A conceptual residence developed for a challenging hillside site where geotechnical conditions played an important role in determining the potential location and configuration of the home. Multiple site and plan options were explored in coordination with the client, along with consultation from a geotechnical engineer, to identify a potential building area while responding to the site's steep terrain.
The design envisioned a compact home with a modern interpretation of traditional Northwest character. The multi-level layout works with the hillside, while generous windows, covered outdoor spaces, and a restrained material palette connect the home to its surrounding landscape.
